Leica M6 with 7.5mm Lens

Bryce: They are scaring me off using the M6 with its cloth shutter curtain and such a lens that tends to gather so much light and heat. I may use the 7.5mm lens with the Canon P instead since it has a metal shutter. I like the view/perspective. It offers a different look at life around me. Depth of field is amazing here. The lens has five or six built-in filters which can be useful when the film speed is 400 and the sun is very strong.

What are the signs of having burnt holes in a cloth shutter? Are there dark spots in the images?

I started thinking last evening that maybe my M6 got holes in the shutter curtain, so I reviewed all frames from that roll. There are twos mudges [I think] that may be on the fish-eye lens, showing as darker sports on the right hand side of the posted images. I also used a Nikkor 105 lens with the last few frames of that roll, and there are not hot spots anyhwhere to be seen. The "UFO" sighting in one image is the only one at frame # 3 in the roll. Maybe I am lucky and the M6 is fine.



Here are the last frames on that roll:

They were were taken with newly acquired Nikkor 105mm/2.5 Some of you cheered me up to get the lens. I am not noting any hotspots from shutter curtain damage.

Holes in the shutter would give overexposed spots on the image, so dark on negatives or light on positives.
It looks like you're O.K.

Thank you, Bryce. What you stated makes sense. I should have seen overexposure. What a relief! I removed the 7.5mm from the M6.
