Leica M8.2 Handgrip = Awkward?

When I had the genuine grip on my M8 I found a tendency to block the RF window with the tip of my index finger ... it annoyed me to the point where I stopped using it and put it back in the cupboard in disgust.

Very poorly designed IMO ... especially for the price!
Wheras when I owned my M8 I found the opposite and that the grip took my finger away from the window and stopped me constantly leaving smudges on it. Guess it could be down to hand size?

But as per menos I bought a Leica M grip for my M2 and hate using it and now hold it eau natural once more. Guess it's different for everyone with differing sizes of hand and personal taste. :)

The hand size is a valid point.
I have large but slim hands. In the beginning, the M felt always to small, but to heavy for it's size, to find a proper grip.
My right hand always struggled, to grip the body securely with the battery cap always in the way of my fingers and often gripping my index finger over the RF window.

The grip relaxed this in the beginning, until I came comfortable with the heft but small size.

I have to add, that I was spoiled by the "like a glove fitting Nikon D3" before.
I now find the D3 ergonomically lacking by comparison (too big, too heavy and those controls -gosh) - lol.
