This is truely wonderful, Kristian! I hope you don't have Asthma problem. I remember somewhere reading about the place and the workers. It's quite a difficult place to work. Thank you again for capturing some of the moments.

BTW, War Photogrpaher is indeed a very good documentary. I saw it when it 1st came out since I'm a docunuts as well! :D

I am an asthma sufferer, but not so bad as I've been getting older. I don't think the ordeal triggered asthma, as anyone caught in that situation would've struggled to breath. I was basically holding my breath the whole time taking small amounts of breaths here and there to stay conscious.

For those that want to know what Sulfur smells like, we basically have all smelt it - pretty much like when we let off steam, through our buttocks :D - then magnify that 100x

Great photos. Thanks for sharing.
I'm from Indonesia, and its good to see things are brought to light.

I love the flim like characteristics of your black and white images. Excellent.

I am currently waiting for an M8 (getting close - its on "lay-buy" and is nearly fully paid off and I expect to have in in a couple of weeks. While I could afford to buy it outright this is my attempt to control my addiction to "kit." )

Many reviewers have also commented on the film like characterics of that camera when it was first released and I am really hoping it does play out that way. While this normally does not bother me too much as an issue in image making, I think it does add something special when shooting black and white - those subtle gradations of tone really make for a good photo.

But I have seen plenty of good cameras take technically excellent photos of some really rubbish images. Not so here - you have made the best use of this camera to turn in some wonderful and interesting images so well done.

You'll love the M8, it's very similar to the M9 files under 640ISO. Above 640, converted to B+W you'll enjoy the film like look to the noise. I'm sure I'll pickup an M8 again as a backup.

Great stuff. I really like the way the photos of the children balance out the harshness of the working environment.

Thank you. Sadly, many of them may share the same harsh reality their fathers currently endure. I still cannot fathom the pain, both physically and mentally that these brave men put themselves through each day. My guide had said that it was good solid work and he had very little choice and had to do what he could for his family. That I can understand and relate to.
