leica made half case

No clue as to the prices or avaliablilty of these "original" half-cases.
Actually, I've never heard of them.

though I did take my Leica NRC and rip the top half off to make a nice half-case, does that count? It does work quite nicely, though it is cumbersome to take off the camera when I need to change rolls of film. However, isn't this the way that all non-zipup cases work?

i lifted this pic off of ebay...

That one kind of looks like a Luigi case, albiet with a more squared-off hand grip. I guess there's not much you can do to change a camera case, they all are just variations on a theme.

No, not true! They're all different, even if they look the same to you or me. If you pay hundreds or thousands of dollars for a leather half-case, you will take much better photographs. It's a fact. And you'll be cooler, your friends will admire you more.

I think it will even enhance your you-know-what. Sure! Ask anybody.

oh bill, why do you mock me?

and please, just think about me for minute.

envision the temperature being -30c, it's snowing like hell and your entrepid mod is out trying to take pics.
it's so cold i really need mitts but thin gloves will have to do...gotta be able to change exposure settings eh?!
i have a cold m3 in my ever colder hands and a thin piece of leather is all that is saving my poor near frozen digits from ever being able to type again.

and you mock me?
you assume i am a vain, but poor, man looking only to increase my value in the uppercrust, by owning a cosmetic nicity?

you make me sad bill, to think so poorly of me...to have such a low opinion of me.

me heart breaks...

This is really a two-part question. The first part is 'why'. People have been asking 'why' since time immemorial. Religion and science are such important parts of many people's lives for that very reason - to answer the single question, 'why'?

The second part of the question is 'do you mock me?' And the answer is, yes, I do.

Best Regards,

Nothin' but love for ya, Joe. And no broken hearts, eh? We've still gotta get yours fixed up right, don't we? Remember what Frank Zappa said about broken hearts.

Best Regards,

Bill Mattocks

Joe, you might run into problems with the strap lugs. People usually have to modify the 'universal' M cases in order to fit the M3s with the Buddha ear strap lugs.

How much are these going for? Any reason you're considering one of these over one of the 'cheaper' Luigi cases?

Joe--a new Leica "full" case is about $180.00 from B+H. They are nice but as Bill predicted, it didn't enhance anything. Pix are still the same. But my religious beliefs are shifting...!

selling at 45 bucks and that includes shipping.

i bought one because it looks good but mostly because of price.
i want cases now on all my ameras for winter shooting.
my hands just cannot take the cold very well any longer and every little bit helps.
and the m3 will, i think, be the least used camera of the bunch, so a luigi case isn't called for.

When I look at my old cameras which have been in cases all the time and those which haven't, a case looks like a sensible idea. The 1948 Robot looks newer than my 2001 Contax G2 and the Robot has seen more use than the Contax.

Joe, the half case that you (seem) you bought is NOT a Leica nor a Leitz product.

I see them advertised in eBay as a "Leica old stock", but this is simply a LIE.

And, despite some repeated , untiring, inexplicable contrary opinion against (MY) cases, always from the same two or three fellows, the well made sases are always and every day more appreciated by many kind buyers/users from all around the world !

...After all, as shoes, gloves, heats, dresses, and so on !

Of course them are evidently free to run down about (MY) cases, but I would like to understand, only, WHY... My greetings to all, ciao, Luigi
