Leica Mini Image Leaked

Why on earth would they rather not release it as new interchangeable lens system with 23mm f/2.8 (from X2) and this 18-46 f/3.5-6.4 lens. It would totally make sense for some people and wouldn't look like such a complete joke price-wise AND you'll be able to re-use the lens with different generations of bodies. :bang:

The "leaked" picture and specs are believable to me, though a great disappointment. But, Leica may be responding to what they perceive as demand by some of their clients for a zoom version of the X2. Imagine someone coming into a Leica store and looking at the M and X2. The X2 doesn't have a zoom and the M is far too expensive for them. The sales person pulls out the mini-M which sort of looks like an M but comes with a zoom and has the image quality of the X2. This is all probably some nonsense but I see Leica thinking they are filling a niche.

Oh, now I know why there is no lens release button. It is LTM. Fantastic !

Ok! Now the picture makes sense. Just wait for the accessory optical finder shown mounted on a IIIc, available in chrome, black, or wartime grey.

The image is real. The shadows in the dials and stuff cannot be faked.

That is not true. Anyone with photoshop skills can fake almost anything if they put their mind to it.

I could easily fake the light, highlights, shadows and all of that if I put my mind to it. And if my rusty skills could do the job then one of the 10s of thousands of people out there who have skills well beyond my own could and would be more then capable of it. Just sayin. I never believe an image until it is proven to be 100% legit.

And if someone were to go through so much work, why use f6 as long-end aperture in the zoom range, I mean that f6.4 is beyond the imaginative realm of any faker.

f6.4 in the long end of zoom, in this day and age, only Leica.

FWIW I've seen people online go to great lengths to do something that I find quite silly.

And you noticed the aperture thing, so someone else could have had the same idea. 😀

If it is real, so be it. But I stand by my call that it's fake. Maybe it's close, maybe it's completely not even close. Who knows. 😀

Not many Leica lenses that have the writing concave and convex, around the lens. Are there any modern lenses with the writing like that? All mine have convex writing the whole way around. That makes this seem dubious to me.

Edit: With Google image search, I see even the Panasonic cameras have convex writing the whole way around the lens. All I can find is a couple old lenses, back when it was cm instead of mm in lens measurement, that have both concave and convex writing. Everything newer is all convex.

Not to disappoint you but ...
