Leica Mini Image Leaked

I'm not sure why people think the Vario-Elmar lettering looks wrong... It looks precisely right for that typeface. (You're also looking at a small image blown up by some unknown interpolation algorithm.)

Almost every modern Leica lens has the writing consistently in the same direction the whole way around. This has the base of the letters toward the lens for the "Leica" at the top (what I call convex), and the tops of the letters toward the lens for the "Vario-Elmar" bit at the bottom (what I call concave). They almost never do that.

Yet they have done it in the past. The Digilux 2 and 3 had a similar lettering setup. Not that this proves anything. I'm not sure why lettering direction would be a smoking gun. Is it so inconceivable that they might change this? It's not like they made the camera body pink.

The lens lettering is oriented the same way on the Digilux-2 zoom lens.

However, the zoom rotation on this lens is opposite that of the D2.

I also notice no aperture ring on the lens.

Also I was previously wrong, the lens axis is perpendicular to the body.

no viewfinder no care

Oh, there's a viewfinder for it alright - for "only" an extra $1000 USD...

There is alot of backlash against Leica's new camera body products (and prices) these days - and a lot of discontent in the world of Leica users.
One would think it would be a smarter strategy for Leica to do some research, find out what Leica connoisseurs actually want - and then provide it for them to buy.

It seems for all the world that Leica's agenda is to herd everyone into the digital corral -l "for their own good," of course. The fact that Leica's profits skyrocket as a result is merely coincidental. 🙄

Instead of giving their customers what they want, Leica seems intent on forcing Leica users down a path of Leica's choosing.
Not smart IMHO.

Everyone seems to leaving room for doubt on it: I thought the change qualified the photo as "dubious", but yes, you're right, it's not absolutely dispositive of anything. It's just odd and worth mentioning.

The anger is with what the fact that this camera (in the pic) is not a work of "art".

For example the new Olympus EP5 is a work of art, just look at it and you'll know what I mean. http://www.dpreview.com/previews/olympus-pen-ep5

I looked at it, and 😕
That is not a "work of art", it is a functional design that tries too much to be something it is not. The Panasonic m43 cameras are so much better looking then the Olympus ones - worst of all imho: the OM-D 😱

A camera in between the X-series and the M would be a full-frame X-like camera. But I wouldn't be surprised if this X-zoom is real..... It then is a digital CM Zoom - that one had a vario-elmar 35-70/3.5-6.5 :bang:

You don't need Photoshop to create an image. Many people use a variety of 3D Rendering programs for more life like work and the ones who know how to use these programs can create pretty much anything.

Example is this image I found using such a program

Creating a camera would be simple

Just have to wait and see, but can't say that image isn't stimulating conversation on the camera

DON

It's certainly not for me either, but I can't see why people should be so upset that Leica would chase this market niche. I was expecting a viewfinder-less M-mount camera actually, to lure all the folks using M lenses on EVIL cameras.

prediction: it does well in the "dumb rich people with more money than brains" segment, which is the only market segment Leica Digital seems interested in pursuing
