Leica Minilux slow flash recycle

Hey all, so i recently purchased a leica minilux (the 40mm fixed lens one) and noticed when i turn the camera on, it takes about 5 seconds to charge the flash before i can take my first shot. Is that normal? I tested a slew of my other 35mm point and shoots and this camera was by far the slowest to charge up the flash. Just wanted to see what your experience has been. Thanks!

Late response, but I hope it still may be helpful..

The Minilux is one of the few cameras that I've had that doesn't go from battery full to battery empty over the course of just a couple of shots, instead it's a very steady decline with recharge times gradually climbing accordingly. It really pays to make sure the batteries are fresh..

Can't say about the minilux but most flashes have to be charged a lot if idle for a long while and then charge quickly as the condenser is just being topped up, as it were. Doesn't the instruction manual tell you the charging time and so on? The circuitry changed a lot as P&S's etc were developed and that may account for it.

Thanks for the replies fellas 🙂 I ended up returning the camera within the two week time frame. Guess i'll stick with the fuji klasse s for now lol.
