Do you mean tracking of the physical package or other ? That's odd, I always ship with tracking so that I know the buyer received it and cannot claim otherwise.
To make a sale you have to be willing to "trust" that the other party will pay and the money will clear, right? We're not talking more trust than that, because I don't trust people I don't know either

if you use paypal for a big sale ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS wait until you have the cash in your BANK ACCOUNT.
not "transferring", not in your paypal account - in your BANK ACCOUNT, and NEVER give paypal permission to automatically deduct money from your accounts in case of a negative balance.
secondly, countries in east asia, parts of south america, all of africa. etc. are not trustworthy and you should never ship to them without having your transaction locked up tighter than fort knox. doing it any other way is inviting theft.

What a weird tread. I would advise the sellers who don't trust strangers at all to stick to the garage sales. I bet there must be some honest buyers out there.

I'm one honest buyer if I may say but I am outside of the great conUSA and I'm sure some eyebrows were raised when I say "Please have it delivered to my broker in CA". I guess risk abound everywhere and the seller must be real careful buying and selling so reference here is a good start. I once sold an LHSA M6 here and I had someone took pictures of myself . the box with the item and the FEDEX guy in their office just in case the buyer claims that he got only the box and an old camera, it happens.

Do you really think it's going to show up at this late date? It's probably found its way to someone who just wants to use it.
The world does not stand still. Move on with it.

It'd be easier to "Move on with it" if it'd been a $15 Lomo.
I guess some people are so rich that money means nothing to them and they are devoid of empathy for others who are in unfortunate circumstances. Are you a Wall St. CEO and a member of the 1% by any chance?

Thank you...I thought the same thing. I will continue to do everything in my power to recover this camera.

No, not a 1%er by any means. Just suggesting a practical approach. I've suffered substantial loss before too. I've come to understand that life is very short. None of us know how long we have. Each moment we spend wringing our hands over the misfortunes that we've experienced is a moment of our lives wasted, dwelling in the past instead of living the present. After some time, one might as well write off the loss, and get on with life.
I didn't mean to be insensitive.

Good point, I am not implicating the buyer, I will choose my words more carefully. At any rate, I did have insurance through a "homeowner" policy but they did not honor the claim (that is an entirely different story) I did not choose to purchase the insurance that the postal service offered because I thought I was covered with the other policy. This is why I no longer ship overseas; it turned out to be a huge mess and was the biggest mistake I ever made. I am just praying that someone "finds" this and is willing to return it.

I purchased a Nikon lens from a fellow RFF member, and he was kind enough to ship from US to Singapore. The package never showed up, and the USPS tracking number was next to useless, showing that it left the shipping depot and nothing else.

the barn doors are long closed (most likely) but always, always insist on insurance no matter what the circumstances. If for example, buyer or seller balks, kill the transaction.
good luck and fingers crossed it does somehow turn up at either end !
