hey folks:

i have an M6 TTL and thinking it might be nice to sell it and buy a used MP.

what do folks who have used both, think?

is the MP a real upgrade to the M6 TTL?

thank you!

Only if you like the traditional shutter speed dial and metal wind lever. Personally, the think the old style rewind knob is a PIA but I am sure others here will sing it praises. Nice thing about Leica film cameras, there were enough different models made that we can almost get the exact features we desire.

And of course the MP loses the TTL flash metering of the M6TTL.

If you can afford an MP, it may be advisable to sell the TTL now, presently selling at a price peak. Its meter is not repairable if/when it breaks.

Jump ship while you can and get the most for it.

Both are great. I'd say the MP feels better, is likely a bit heavier due to a bit more brass used, but I think it's a minor thing overall. That said, the advance lever, shutter dial, and rewind are going to be the most notable tangible differences in use. And really it's going to be the shutter dial and rewind that are the most dramatically different. I personally don't mind using either the rewind crank on the M6 or the knurled knob of the MP. Both great cameras so I don't think you'll have any regrets, and if you're bored with your M6, then selling it now is a great option. Lots of demand for them!

The shutter speed dials are different sizes and turn in opposite directions. That will make a difference in operation. If you use the camera regularly I'm sure you can adapt to either.

The other external differences are aesthetic. I can't imagine the internal differences have any affect on everyday use, unless of course the meter in your M6TTL kicks the bucket.

Follow your heart, I say.
