Ignoble Miscreant
I've had a Q3 28 for almost a year and, after a fair about of experimenting, I've set up 4 profiles that I use frequently. I've had lots of nice cameras over a lifetime of hacking at photography. To date, I'm really enjoying the Leica and have had no issues with the quality of the build. I've had no problems with the eyepiece.

I do not doubt that. I have had my Q43 for about a year. And it is fine. But reports of design failures like such a silly mistake as a soft, scratchable EVF eyepiece are unsettling. How could this soft plastic be in the design? Unless the goal is not to make a fine camera but to make a camera that fulfills Milton Friedman's dicta that a company's purpose is to reward the stockholders.
I hope this is not a path of hollowing out that is the pattern of equity firms when they buy companies. The Q series is a great design and my Q43 is a great camera that does a lot. But if the EVF eyepiece is as scratchable as reported it is a caution.
