The Cron 50 is certainly a fine piece of glass as evidenced by the first photo from a walkabout Friday:

And the second:

Very nice Dave. I'd actually be interested in a full review of what you think of the camera and your decision involved in getting it as a separate thread in the clunky forum.

I like a lot of others wonder about Leica SLR's because they seem to not be the normal choice when buying an SLR.

Thanks, Keith!

I will gladly do that. At the moment, I have a list of projects that I am working on and the first is a series of small town life photo documentaries. I selected the R4 as a companion to the M3 because the Cron lens is quite sharp and reasonably priced, and also because I have a couple of other lenses in mind that give a specific rendering that I am looking for.

So, with the M3, I will be getting softer images and using Tri-X, while the R4 will give sharp images with Ilford 100 film. Looking like a good match so far...

An example of the softer images with the M3 + Summarit:

I should be able to give a decent hands-on review soon. Thanks for the encouragement to do so.🙂

work on a little post process to bring out the blacks- -- these could be even better with a bit of punch -- basic level adjust

Yeah, will wait for post-processing when I know what images will be published. These are straight from the local lab and even his crappy scanner did a decent job.😛
