Leica R5-Is it worth buying.

Thanks Uwe, Looking at the photo on ebay the foam round the film window looks good, and I appreciate that any electrical circuit repair would not be done by Leica. Am still debating whether to go for it, and make an offer. It is currently priced at below £200.00. It might be worth the gamble.

Finally got back here. Still pleased with the R5, but have backed off and forgotten about an R4. Planned to pursue an R7 but they are holding their prices, and R8s have dropped dramatically, so I am now looking at that model. I noted your comments cidereye on this site(and I have seen you somewhere else on another forum) It looks as though 99% are in favour of the R8 and recommend it; the other 1% mention niggling, minor points. Therefore it seems to be a thumbs up for the R8.

Right -- the camera for sale at a bargain price is a Leica R. Not an M. Not a LTM. It's a Leica R5. He can't magically turn that into a camera that he can't afford.

So, it would be very helpful to answer the question and not suggest that he buy your favorite camera.
