Leica R6 Value

I'm looking at buying a Leica R6 with summicron 50. I just wanted to know what is a good price to pay for this combo? They are asking $1000 CAD which is equivalent to roughly $765 USD. Is this a good deal if everything is mint. Thanks

The R6 is a very good all mechanical camera. As far as "mint" goes, and that's what you are asking for; why not ask for more pic's of these items? I tried looking at the R6 closer, and to my eye's I see some wear from the camera strap on the body. Also I see wear on the focusing ring on the cron too. Maybe it's not there and only glare; but I for sure would want more pictures for his asking price?

Assuming mint, that seems a pretty fair deal. I shoot R stuff on a Leicaflex SL platform, but I recently sold off some, so I'm a little familiar with current pricing.

As with most film stuff, pricing has come down, especially with the bodies.

A mint R6 in box would sell for something like $300-350 on ebay. The 50 Summicron would sell for something like $450-550.

Pricing on that auction site tends to be all over the place, because it seems that most of it is just store inventory, and high prices. Just check the sold listings.

I'll second that, prices are all over the place at present and I guess will continue to be for a while. A bit of patience might pay off.

BTW, look at the back plate, they suffer from bumps; look at lots of sales' photographs and you'll soon see what I mean.

Thanks for the responses. I am going to try and look at it this weekend. Not sure if I can come up with the the cash right now but it isn't very often these things come up locally.
