Leica M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
My new I to IIIa syn

I always preferred black Barnacks, and some conversions are simply beyond beauty

MaZo,

Excellent camera, congratulations! Now you need to find the III version without flash sync, then the II with flash sync and then II without flash sync.

It is addictive.

Then, and only then, you can start searching for a postwar version of a black I with a blanked off slow speed dial. Such a thing does exist...I don't really know why!

Yes, that's it. Recently I found a black Voigtländer 50mm finder (like a SBOOI) in like new condition to complement the camera. It is now truly an impressive whole.

I also have an original SBOOI in black, but that is very much used so the Voigtländer fits better on this camera.

I will try to make a picture of the camera including the finder.

Erik.

Over the last couple of years I have been reducing my collection of conversions. These are the last of my postwar black conversions (I never collected chrome, chrome is for M cameras). I was going to send these to Westlicht as one lot but in the end decided to sell my Contax Is. I doubt I will ever find the elusive I to I post war camera and if I do I doubt it will be at a price I am willing to pay!

For the record the ltm camera I have been using this year is a prewar black conversion to IIIa.

Now I'm in trouble I guess ;)

I just wanted a plain black Barnack in the first place, then I saw this conversion and that was it...

I look forward to seeing it. Does it have the blanked off slow speed dial sometimes found where a new postwar body was used in the conversion?

I have seen pictures of such a thing but never yet ion the flesh!

Hello Dralowid,
Yes,it does have the blanked off slow speed dial where the new Post war body was used in the conversion.

Forgot to add, somewhere towards the beginning of the 'conversions' thread is a page Erik posted showing the prices for the various conversion options (in DMs). Makes for interesting reading.
