My first 35f1.4 Asph flared - this is a milder flare - it could opaque out the image as a worst czase scenario. It was rebuilt by Leica, still had some flare so I did exchange it - and the newer one still would do it in strong edge light. It is a very sharp lens and all that - but I never really trusted it and in the end got rid of it.

Tom, see the picture of the olive grove above. That's about as badly as mine ever flared, and some of the veiling visible there is due to the scan (not visible on the transparency). Sounds like you got a dud. I wonder if the flare was an early-vs-late production issue?

Kristian you certainly have some beautiful shots taken with the CV Nokton 35/1.2, posting a couple for comparison would be kinda nice.

. . . . . not to sure who the Leica nuts are or why anyone would want to go home. Most of the members posting appear to use a variety of lens and cameras. Hell it's all good. JMHO.

The first one was a definite 'dud". I have to dig through my files to find some samples of the excess flare!!!!!
The 2nd one was better, but any strong lightsource at the top of the image would flare badly. leica admitted to the problem with the first one and later replaced it. Problem with rangefinders is that you discover these problems when you pull the negs out of the developing tanks! I simply lost confidence in the lens and got rid of it.
The new version 35f1.4 FLE is better, though I haven't really shot that much with it. Price is too high for a 35 in my estimation - and I trust my Nokton 35f1.4 SC to deliver what i want at 15% of the cost!
