Hello!
The little plastic focus tab on my lens has become wobbly and the screws in the back of it needs to be tightened. I have done this procedure on other tabbed Leica lenses but in this case I'm unsure how to remove the lens housing from the focus mechanism. There's a video of someone just unscrewing it but I have also read that this isn't possible with the V2. I have tried to unscrew it to the point where I feel it should come loose but it doesn't. I'm suspecting that there might be something that needs to be unscrewed beforehand.
Perhaps there's some knowledge floating around out there so I thought I'd ask here!
Thank you

I would take such a good lens to a highly trained camera repair person.

There is a good chance the plastic focus tab is broken inside. This happened to mine. There is a replacement offered on shapeways https://www.shapeways.com/product/M6VKL5H4Q/leica-summilux-focus-tab-replacement. The repair was pretty simple. Google it. The hardest part was sourcing the proper screw size. Once I finished, it is on there way more solidly than the cheap plastic Leica put on it. It doesn’t LOOK the prettiest, but I shoot my gear and don’t really care how it looks. Good luck!

Thank you for the reply. I've changed these plastic tabs before and I'm familiar with its terrible construction. Brass is definitely a better material for it.
I would appreciate it if you could enlighten me how to get the optical housing separated from the focusing mechanism. Since you have done the thing already.

I'm sorry I can't help but I wonder if Kanto Camera would be so kind as to guide you to separate the optical housing if you contact them: info@kantocamera.com
From their website:
From their website:
Brass Made Focus Tab for Leica Lenses We have two selections, one is black paint and the other is bare brass.
*We don't sell this part.
We can even add this focus tab to a lens without focus tab.
e.g. Summilux M 35/1.4
The cost will be 8,000 JPY for labor charge and 12,000 JPY for part.
*If it needs additional treatment, there will be some additional cost.

That's probably a good idea. I might just contact them on Instagram directly. Thank you.
It's not a difficult job but it seems to be variations with the contradicting information. I won't call an electrician to swap out a fuse. I'll update this thread once I got it sorted so others won't stumble upon another dead end in this endeavor.
EDIT:
After talking to various repairmen and fiddling about it myself I successfully managed to easily remove the lens assembly from the focusing helicoid. The chrome ring at the base needed to be removed prior by unscrewing the 3 small screws on the side. It's quite snug so a little strength applied detaches it.
It was successfully repaired and reassembled.
