Leica Summilux Asph M 35mm f1.4 FLE Photos

Jon, have you tried this lens on faster film such as Tri-X?

I used to have a Summarit that I sold and got a Summicron ASPH, but shooting on the same film, not considering the extra half stop, focusing distance and ergo, there's not much in way of resolution difference between the two.

My question would be, is it necessary to shoot on slow, fine grain film, in order to see an appreciable difference between the FLE and the ASPH cron at f2?

Fred, I think most of the photos I've posted earlier in this thread were taken using Neopan 400.

At F2, I'd say there's little difference between the FLE and Summicron ASPH in terms of resolution - both have excellent corner to corner sharpness. I'd rate the FLE as being more flare resistant though, if that's important for you. And I do appreciate that extra stop.

To answer your question, I think you'd see very little difference in resolution between the two lenses at F2 even on slow fine grain film. The give away would probably just be the Summicron's minor pincushion distortion vs the FLE's minor barrel distortion, which would of course require the right subject for it to be noticeable and be apparent regardless of the film type.

3rd roll shot with new 35 ‘Lux FLE, and new film, kentmere 400. NOVA, mar ‘12.

I just developed another roll of kentmere 400 and the negs look HORRIBLE lol. I shouldn't have bought so many rolls of it!!

I found the Kentmere 400 €3.00 per package. Short'll buy and try.
Cheers
