Any machinist out there who can make this adapter??
I've been watching eBay and KEH for a SOOGZ or other adapter which will let me use my 39mm filters on the Summitar..

Been there, proposed that...
IMHO, the chinese guysthat did wonders in proposing hoods and adapters at reasonable prices are missing something here...

It's a SNHOO that you want [adapter to use 39mm filters on a Summitar].
S.K. Grimes can machine one. And according to one person, DAG can make one from an old Summitar filter. I have a couple links here:

good luck!

Well-known
find an old Summitar filter that has the screw-in retaining ring; unscrew the retaining ring, remove the glass, and screw in 39mm filter of choice.
that's the easy part. finding one isn't as easy, but not too difficult - took me about 2 months of looking on ebay. typically go for $20-30
note, you can no longer use the barn-door hood, the 39mm filter sticks out too far (but not enough to vignet, at least for me)

Just made a couple of clamp-on ones that take 40.5mm hoods and filters, and mailed them to RFF members,- awaiting feedback (watch this space!) and 39mm would not be a problem.

Dave,
I hope you (or your recipients) will post some photos here and on my previously mentioned thread on Summitar hood alternatives.
Thank you!
