But you can use M glass on a great number of cameras for another 1.5k less...The NEX-6 has the same sensor, built-in EVF, peaking and magnification for less than $600. You can take out the AA filter on the NEX6 for an extra $350, and have a true "Leica T sensor".

No. IQ will not be similar to a full frame body. Rendering may be similar, but it depends on how Leica cooks the jpegs.

Is it just me or do some of the photos on Steve's site seem a bit fuzzy?
Something not quite right?
Skin tones particularly? Look a bit mushy?

Or is it just my eyes?
He seems to like it however.

I think it's beautiful, one solid piece for the body.

Dear Leica,

Make us a digital camera with the following physical controls: ISO, shutter speed, shutter release, aperture and a clear optic view/rangefinder. Apply it to a solid metal design like your Leica T camera and deliver it in black only.

You have my permission to include a non-touch screen on the back, but make sure the UI does not contain more than four features. One of them being quick-look of the users photos and another one I suggest being a no-preset-WB-control. The two features left are up to you.

Having been given (for work) a black iphone, there is no way known I would get a black finish aluminium billet camera. How much "brassing" do you want on the corners? If I got one I would get the natural finish and a black clip-on skin. Then it will at least still look good when the finish is worn.
 
That ridiculous marketing strategy has only one goal, going viral. I'm sure it will find it's audience, but to me it's transparently stupid... nothing's more important than hand polishing piece of aluminium.

I find Kaufmann's video equally banal. To see him sitting there rolling out superlative after superlative about a basically unproven product doesn't sit well with me.

I remember a certain digital rangefinder that cost me six grand but couldn't be used to photograph anything black without turning it magenta, until my 'complimentary' IR filters arrived! :(

There are many many things more important; I think we all understand that :) . . . . but such is this brand now. Luxury not necessity. Some say it's always been that way while others dispute this.

I, personally, have a love/hate relationship with the brand. I Love their film cameras and I intend on ordering a brand new MP or M7 A La Carte next year for my 50th birthday. I know it's expensive but, for film and my lenses I can think of nothing better. And it will be uniquely mine.

And yet.. I despise their digital "strategy" (or lack thereof). Yes, the "T" seems to be the first "reasonably" priced (all things relative of course) interchangeable lens Leica camera and while the sensor may be good (it's the same as the X-Vario), in the digital realm, it's an "old" sensor now (2 yrs old). Add to that the fact that the Leica branded T-Mount to M-Mount adapter is $400 USD.. no EVF... APS-C.. means it's a non-starter for me using any current M-Mount lenses. If I wanted a 75mm FOV I would use a 75mm lens on a full frame body and not a 50mm lens. And of course you won't get "corner smearing" that the pixel peepers seem to be so intent on complaining about on full frame mirrorless cameras that are not red-dot branded; the APS-C crop takes care of all of that for you....

And even with all of this.. Leica still attracts me for their lens quality (albeit pricey lenses) and their film bodies. As a good friend of mine stated, "The lenses are not expensive if you intend on using them for 10+ years or more" - and looking at my lenses I would say he's right...

@ Precision Camera, my answer is no. Even if the system were cheaper, I would probably still say no.

We have reached the point of sufficiency within the APS-C world there is no need for luxury when much cheaper cameras are equal performers.

no, because i'd prefer the X-T1 as an aps-c camera on which i can use M-glass very nicely as an alternative to fuji's xf lenses.

i guess i don't get it - if someone'll spend $3k for the "T" why wouldn't they just step up to an M-E?
 
not one bit. without a built-in evf and a more usable interface, this camera is really only good for undemanding purposes.

a higher-end t-mount camera would be of interest because of the 23/2.
