Leica finally responds to Fuji X series?
Leica doesn't compete with Fuji. They will be in totally different price brackets.

Not happening cal.

The slouchy M8 and M9 were almost too slouchy for my needs. Seriously slooow. Imagine them even more crippled.
There are some things that Leica just don't understand.

So not true.

The idea of a Digi-CL is a tasty one.
I'd love to see a fixed lens RF. Monochrom even better. But I doubt it's going to be that.

Personally, I applaud Leica for continuing to develop what THEY see is good for Leica, not Fuji, or anyone else. They are in a completely different market. And I am very happy to see what they have up their sleeve.
Dreaming... a digital CL? or maybe a modern IIIF with DMR...now THAT would be a hybrid!

Slow for what - chimping? 12fps machine gun spray of a scene? the responsiveness of my M9 is just fine for actual shooting, just like a film M.

like someone said before, the panasonic L1 rumor seems related. I'm wondering if we're going to see another Digilux 3 type body with mirrorless and a bigger sensor.

My guess? They´re announcing their own Panasonic GX2 version, just like the D-Lux is a version of the LX7
Well, I'd be extremely surprised if the consumers accepted that at the suggested place (and price tag) between M and X2, as the latter has twice the sensor area and three times the street price of the GX1. And a L2? Leica would hardly announce a SLR (or even SLR-alike EVIL camera) as part of their M universe.

I agree that the form factor makes sense.

Simply not suitable for professional use. Just not responsive enough.
I do agree, though, that the M8 and M9 can keep up with some P&S.

So where does the M-E fall in their graph? Isn't it also an M series and shouldn't it be in that list? And if so, where does the Mini M fall in relation to the M, M-E and X2?
Curious because there's a huge price difference between the X2 and the M and the M-E sits in the middle of that now.

I think they've stated already that it isn't Panasonic related.

The S2 is a DSLR, and if we're being picky, all the range finders contain mirrors, as is required by all RFs.

The much awaited and long overdue true successor of the of the Digilux-2 ?

'Professional use' covers such a wide spectrum that I doubt it's possible to rule any camera out for 'professional use'.
Not all professionals fit into the mold prescribed by camera manufacturers or their fans.

I'd love to see a 1.3 or better crop sensor in a III kind of form factor. The M went in the wrong direction with more bulk. A M8 kind of sensor would be so cool in a Digital Leica III, though admittedly it would be better not to use the screw mount.
If I were waiting for a preordered M I would be quite uneasy about paying 7000 without knowing what this mini is all about
