just curious
My god what a nightmare this is turning out to be...
So I have a v35 original version and I need a bulb for it. I had been using an PHILIPS 6604 but its now dead, and I would like to get anohter one but cant, and so according to this:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...ips&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a
it says I can use an EFN which I got and it wont fit the older lamp-holder which is the one I have (the nipple on the back is wider then the 6604).. that page suggests I upgrade to a different lamp-holder, something im very reluctant to get involved in unless I have to, because I think it was written back when the suggested replacements were more available themselves.
I have thoughts about dremeling out the lamp-holder to fit the EFN...? Any suggestions for an alternative bulb... or anyone who will sell me an original Philips 6604..? ..or any suggestions as to what I can do to abate this crisis would help immensely.

The following link shows a list of other equivalents (on donsbulbs.com) that might allow you to find something?

He also has a few in stock if you choose to go that route although they are quite pricey.
Alternatively there are conversion kits such as:

More expensive than a bulb from above but perhaps cheaper in the long run.
Good luck.

There's a recent thread on APUG about this exact problem. Might be of interest to you.

From APUG, we came to the conclusion that there were no functional equivalents to the old size bulb. The only option is the adapter and the newer size bulb. Be aware that there are different angles of reflectance, different ir (heat) transmissions as well as different physical sizes. Also there are bulbs rated at 1000 hours and others at 50 (which will change colour-temperature also) !!!
I'm ordering the adapter and five Philips 1000 hour bulbs, that should see me through . . . for about the same as the enlarger cost me, but never mind.

As Martin says there are probably no equivalent alternative bulbs that you could use instead of the Philips 6604. What the donsbulbs site seems to list are different codes from other manufacturers for effectively the same type of bulb

I recently bought lamps to my V35 from a seller in Germany, it was the OSRAM 64615.
There is another maker of this lamp also, but i think that was not made anymore. This Osram model is still available, but as propably mentioned only in 50hr bulb.
