Hi @all

i have looked for a Leitz Summarit 50mm f/1.5. I have found that two versions of the Summarit are exist. One is for the M mount and one is for the Screw Mount. What is the big difference between this lenses?

And what is a good price for the lenses?

The screw-mount lens will screw onto all interchangeable-lens Leicas before the M3 was introduced, and to the bayonet-mount M3 and later with an adapter; the M-mount lens will only mount on the M3 and later.

I chose the screw mount so it would fit on my 111f and it could be adaptered to my M cameras.

If you have no screw mounts, buy the bayonet and put the adapter money towards a shade.

Beautiful lens if in good condition. Don`t waste money on one with scratdhed glass or haze inside unless it is so cheap you can afford a repair and that is chancy.

The London Leica centre have one for 299 pounds .I think that it is a screw mount. Ian

They are optically identical, I believe (but have no hard facts to back that up with.)

the Summarit is the grandmother of all 50mm Summiluxes.

Mine cost €100 plus postage last month on evilbay, and I like the results. M-mount.

And the Xenon is the crazy naked (uncoated) greatgrammaw. :) Doesn't Gabriel have one of those (Xenon)?

BTW, this thread is real old. :)

You got a great deal, you like the results and you're happy. So why call it evilbay? I'm not sure I understand this...

The Summarit, by the way, is a must-have lens.
