I now want to rewire my valoy II but I can't yet see how to disconnect the bulb assembly from the head. Is there a particular way to do this?

Just checked how to take the wiring from the lamphead of the Valoy II.
- on the outside of the enlarger head loosen the turning part closest to the head. I think you need to hold the socket to do so. Just turn it anti-clockwise as far as it goes
- then on the inside of the enlarger head loosen the lowest part of the socket by turning it anti-clockwise (see photo) - you hold the parts on the outside while doing this
- From here on I did not go further, but you will need a small screwdriver to loosen the two wires. After that you can pull the whole thing out, or maybe you will need to loosen the other part on the outside to be able to pull everything out . . .
Good luck

Just in case you still need to change the wiring of your Valoy II:
The actions in my earlier post still apply . ..
I just had to do this myself and ran into the final action you must do. On the outside the round part that sits furthest from the lamphouse, it also turns lose. BUT you need a tiny screwdriver to unscrew this tiny screw on the side !!
Attached an image after the whole thing, just to show where to find the small screw . . .
