My friend has a lot of old canon lenses. He went to a local camera store and got what I would call some bum info. Below us a cut and past from his email.

"The guy from the camera store said that he's found NO adapter that
works...once on - you can only shoot macro with no zoom capability - i.e.,
within a few meters?...also, the optical adapters add too much parallax he
said...causing the images to be unfocused."

Only a bad adapter would cause this problemas far as I am aware.

So request is a recommendation for a friend living in riverside area for good camera store and sales person to help him out. I have already recommended some stuff and told him next time he is up this way, I can show him can walk him thru a lot of this. But he seems to want to figure it out locally.

Thanks
Gary

Empire Camera is about the only store I know out that way and it's been a long time since I've been there...they have a bunch of old stuff on display there soooooo there might be someone there who might know what they're talking about...now, if this is where your friend got this info then.......never mind....

I'm guessing the person giving the advice is confusing FD lenses on EF-mount modern Canon bodies, with FD lenses on a CSC?

Samy's on Fairfax is an interesting pro-line shop. Their used offerings reflect the reality of the Ebay era, most seem to prefer selling used on the auction site rather than doing trade-ins.

If one desires to hold a piece of gear in their hand and talk with a knowledgeable sales person, in L.A. I would strongly recommend Samy's. I've been in the Fairfax Ave. shop several times, none of their other locations, though.

BTW, I completed the swap of the EdMika EOS/EF mount to my FDn 135/2.0, works exactly as I hoped, still an amazing lens and now usable on my 5D2.

Thanks again JSU.
