Lens and external viewfinder questions.

How does an external viewfinder work? Is it coupled? Or do you have to look through both viewfinders and focus with the one in the camera?


If you have read my posts in the past this will be my first rangefinder. On non-coupled finders you had to set the distance on the lens, what do you do on the R-D1?

You focus using the camera's rangefinder, then move your eye to the external viewfinder to compose.

yeah, that's pretty much it.

I found that a zoom finder like TEWE works well for me, only finder I carry with the R-D1.
