Lens cap for ZM planar 50mm

Any suggestions for a generic replacement for the 50mm Zeiss ZM planar?

Do you use the lens shade? If so, then I think the caps are completely inconvenient and unworkable. I have since adopted a method I saw on Roger Hick's website: Optech's Hood Hat (size micro fits the Biogon/Planar lens shade perfectly).

Works like a charm; provides a little bit of impact protection, on-off is much faster than the lens cap, etc. But it doesn't work, obviously, without the hood (nothing for the hood hat to stretch over).
