Hi guys, just to check is there a menu to show lens info for 6 bit coded Leica lens for m8 and m9? (etc.. 50mm 35mm ...)
like for example I plug in a summicron apsh 6 bit , is there any feature in the menu that will assure me that the sensor are still alive and is able to detect the lens?

The M9 gives you the choice to pick the lens manually or auto-detect.

For M9: If the lens-detection in the main-menu is switched on, and you have attached a coded lens, you can press the Info-Button. The last line on the screen shows, what the camera has detected. This is described in the manual also...

The menu for manual lens selection on the M9 will not show you which lens is actually mounted if you are in manual selection, it is for selecting a lens without 6-bit coding.
If you want to check which len s the camera h as recorded in EXIF, go to playback and push the info button, both on the M8 an d M9

Yes surely you just press the Info button on the back of the camera (M9) and it confirms the camera has detected the lens that is mounted, a/if it is coded and you are in Auto Lens Selection, or b/ have manually selected it.
