lens hood for J-9?

Dear Lubitel,
have you tried the seller American Eagle? I purchased from them a vented hood for my J8, the product quality is very good and price competitive. They offer a large choice of this item.

I have a metal tubular hood from Heavystar. Length about 35mm ex. threads. This may be a liitle too long, still figuring that out. Test roll is waiting for development.
Just took the lens apart yesterday evening and managed to put the jigsaw puzzle togethet again, pfffff. sigh.
I got a 49mm metal screw hood with the lens, but that one is too wide, suitable for 50mm. That one is at CameraGas now.
You don't need a vented hood for a 85mm because the fov is quite narrow.

For my LTM J-9 I have a cylindrical 49mm tele lens hood bought on eBay for about $8. It goes on my M5 and even on my CL and--this is the important part--does not block the little rangefinder window, even when the lens is extended.

For my Kiev mount J-9 I have a larger conical shade (another eBay bargain) because the rangefinder window is well out of the way.

I've seen the Oly hoods, and they are good quality, but check whether they block the little window when the lens is extended.

On my Culminar 85/2.8 I use what is almost certainly a hood for a normal lens. It comes a little in the way of the R/F of a Zorki 1C but is certainly better than no hood. When it was shiny white metal it made focussing difficult, so I painted it matt black.

An Oly OM (SLR) hood for the 85mm/105mm lenses works just fine.

That's exactly what I have, and BTW they fit the bakelite case, but it seems this is rather the expensive option.

However for me, any metal hood is better than any collapsible rubber one.

Cheers,
Ruben

I use a quite huge metal tubular Soligor hood (49mm) which I bought at a camera fair for a few euro's for my SMC-Pentax-M 4/100 macro lens.
I always use it on both J9's I have (LTM & M42).
Length of the tubular part: 43mm.
Diameter: 69mm.
It doesn't vignette, to my surprise ...
