Lens Hood for Summarit (41mm)

I use a 41mm to 46mm step-up ring and a 46mm rubber hood.

Be prepared to pay dearly for a XOONS.....but they are sweet looking, no question. Tough size....and don't lose your lens cap either!

I just purchased a 41-to-46 step-up ring from B&H, about $9.99 (you can get the B+W for $24, but I thought silver on silver looked better 😉 ) I got it so I could use my 46mm 0.9 ND filter.

I wish I knew where to tell you to look, other than ePrey. I got mine for ... how much is a peanut? 😉 So...ehem...I was very very lucky, I know they are extremely hard to find, and the prices are oh la la.

I bought a hood for my 40.5 mm lenses off ebay for $11.98. It's very nice, only one thing: it doesn't fit any of my 40.5 lenses, however it is a PERFECT fit on my Summarit. So I'm guessing in Hong Kong somewhere is a hood manufacturing device just slightly mis-calibrated.
I was initially very unhappy after I tried to mount it on my Jupiter 8, tears turned to joy when I thought to try it on the Summarit, which is the one I really wanted a hood for anyway,

raid, stephen gandy has a serviceable 41 mm round hood for the summarit. nothing too precious, but it works well and comes with a VC cap (nice leica camoflage).

It's good to know that there are 41mm hoods out there, but the advantages of a 41-46 stepup ring are not merely for the hood but for filters. Unfortunately, a generic 46mm hood may be more likely to intrude into the viewfinder.

I got the original hood (looks awesome) plus I took the advice of someone here to order the wrong sized lens hood [Yes, it fits!] and I am waiting for a third one from the Netherlands. I was too exited...when I have all, two will have to go.
