Is there a list of all the non Leica lenses it is possible to use with an M.

I'm aware of Voigtlander and Zeiss . I ask because I'm new to all this and I often read threads about this and that non Leica lens being used.

Thanks up front ;)

No. There are literally hundreds of lenses that can be used with a simple screw-to-bayonet adapter, retaining rangefinder coupling, manufactured from the early 1930s to the present day. Some are unbelievably rare; many are unbelievably bad; and a gratifying number are very good indeed. Yet others have, as the French say, the faults of their qualities. There are lots of collector books with lots of detail, and even a few user books, such as my own Rangefinder book from GMC. But I've been using Leicas for 40 years, and reading about them for as long, and writing about them for a quarter of a century, and still surprises pop up from time to time.

And to add to the fun you'll find the 39mm threaded ones in two or three different pitches, ie 1mm, 0·75mm and a hybrid version that's neither one nor the other. Also the 39mm 0·75mm ones sometimes get CLA'd and end up as 1mm pitch by mistake.

The same applies to some of the screw to M adapters. (I also think some of the FED's and Zorkis have the hybrid thread as I've fitted 1mm and 0·75mm ones to the same camera... )

It's all part of the fun.
