Lens recommendations beside 50mm for Zorki 4

I like shooting with my Zorki 4 but would like to be adventuresome and try something other than the Industar 50 that came on it. By adventuresome I mean in finding different angles of view, not pulling my hair out :bang:

I've heard that going to far from 50 is an exercise in frustration. What are some options that aren't 50mm but aren't a mind-numbing experience in trying to make things work?

Try jupiter 12 (35mm 2.8) or jupiter 9 (85mm 2). Only downside is that you will need to use an external finder to compose your shots after focusing using the rangefinder.

Jupiter 12. Look for an accessory lens kit for some of the older Japanese fixed lens cameras,there is usually a veiwfinder for 35mm/85mm with the kit,far cheaper than the FSU turret style finder. I use one from a petri Aux lens kit,picked up for 5.00. works fine.

Another vote for the Jupiter 12. Russian-made 35mm finders can often be found for a reasonable price on the auction site.

Don't forget the Jupiter 11 135mm lens. It can be found dirt cheap on ebay.

Maybe you might want to look for one of the Russian multi-frame turret finders. It will handle everything from 28-135mm, and is probably findable for a decent price. It's a bit squinty, especially with glasses.

What photos do you like? Ok, I'm a little late for this discussion. But some time ago whilst roaming the Gallery, I took note that the majority of the images I fancied were taken with wider FL. So I went for the 35mm Jupiter. "Well, if a little wider is good, mo-wider must be bettah." So I [nervously] ordered an Orion.15, 28mm. No regrets on either; they're my Mains.

I too, picked up various acc. VFs, but I raaarely take them along now. I'm just a guesstimator about everything and I prefer the smaller package of a Barnack-sized camera minus accessory.

This is exactly what I use with my Jupiter 12 as well. I've found the "wide frame" not wide enough though, and use the entire VF for the J12. I think mine was $5 too.
