I sent a 75/1.4 Asph in to Leica USA in August for a focus fix and coding. It's still not back and no one will give me an idea on when. It was supposed to be clearing 'final inspection' 3 weeks ago. Now, nothing. Anyone I can contact here in US? Thanks for any help.:bang:
I know it went to Germany, but still....!

Mate, I waited for a 50mm Summicron M to be repaired for 4 months only to have it returned to my unfixed and missing its lens cap. It has a really strange speckled look on the back element. Apparently they either didn't think it was likely to affect the photos (I doubt it, it was pretty bad. And, if thats the case, why don't some come from the factory like that?) and they opened it up for a full clean "free of charge". Strange. It's now on it's way back to Germany and I have a loaner lens. The Leica Rep here has been awesome though, as has the store I sent it though, so no complaints there. I just think Leica are letting the standards slip a bit.

It takes for ever for items to clear customs. I had a lens sent in for repair and Leica would not supply the parts but would fix the lens in the beloved fatherland. It took about 5 months before it was returned. It was immaculate and in "new" condition so I am not complaining. But, I was getting a bit worried at 3 1/2 months...

That's probably right - the customs thing. I didn't know re the loaner possibility. That, I may insist on. Thanks for all the help. I really enjoy this site.

Customs, the length of time both Leica in the USA and in Germany take to fix things, the quality of work, all are reasons for anxiety. Some are now sending even warranty items to independent repair technicians like DAG. I have a lens from Popflash that is binding and I'm glad that it will be fixed by Tony Rose's tech probably in a reasonable time.

Banky; I sent. originally to Leica USA and then it went to Germany. Been gone ever since. Finally got some sort of answer from my Camera Shop who talked to a 'nice lady' at Leica USA. She's looking it up. Fingers crossed.
