I have a Nikon 105mm f2.5 lens with the tripod collar, and a canon 7, both purchased used. After moutning the lens, I see that the tripod collar is no longer parallel to the bottom of the camera, it seems to go past the parallel position if I screw the lens on tightly.
What does this mean?
Is there damage to the mount of the camera?
Is something wrong with the lens?
Should I just not screw the lens in as tight as I did?
Or can I remove the tripod mount and refix it in a different position?

Can you post a pic? I'm not familiar with this lens but it may be adjustable, I have a long tele lens on M42 thread and the tripod mount is adjustable.
