I'm looking for an original Canon lenscap for my 35mm F2, of the push-on variety. Is that the chrome 42mm Canon cap? Just want to verify what origionally came with the lens.
Thanks!

I had the cheap plastic canon pushon cap for the 35/2. It came with the lens when I got it. Not sure if that is the original or what.

The earlier Canon 35mm f/2 LTM came with the 42mm push on chrome caps. The later version has black push on plastic caps, similar to those you commonly find on the late black type 50mm f/1.8 LTM.

Cheers,

Well, the chrome one came with my Canon 35/2. After 45 years, who knows if it was the original. Fits well, Looks great. So did a Walz hood, which I like better than the Canon hood.

Thanks Everybody. I know where I can find the Canon 42mm Chrome for a nice price, so I'll go with that. My lens is the earlier version.

I have a clean black plastic front cap and a used looking chrome front cap. The lens is black, so the black cap looks better on it than the chrome one.

I have a knock-off black plastic cap that says "Leica," but is from China, I believe. It works as intended, which was all I asked. It stays on the camera lens when the camera lens stays home unused. Otherwise it stays in my pocket all day so I can't forget to take it off.
