Lense problem for Rollei 35RF

I bought a 40/f2.8HFT lense for the Rollei 35RF and had a big trouble in putting on the UV filte due to the lense hood which seems a built-in. I was wondering if the hood could be removed or I have to screw the UV into the hood but not on the front of the lense.😡

I believe the hood does come off- threaded like a filter- I have not used nor handled this lens, so I may be wrong.

Thanks. I have tried very hard to loose the hood but no move at all. I am afraid if insist in doing that will destroy the lense. There is thread inside the hood, I don't know if that is for filters.

Well, I don't know now- I just looked at the pdf I have from Rollei, hard to say if it comes off. Does a 39mm filter fit on the front of the hood? It is supposed to take 39mm filters.

Yes, the hood takes 39mm. But you can not fasten the filter because no place for your fingers to screw it.

The thread is inside the middle of the hood, not on the front of the hood.

The hood does come off by unscrewing, but the threads often stick. Keep trying.

If you have the lens cap, try using the lens cap to remove the hood.

Also, try using the palm of your hand flat against the hood. Or try pressing the lens flat against a rubber sheet on a table -- those little rubber sheets that they sell to remove lids on jars.

The idea is to apply pressure evenly across the front surface of the hood.

I've got one as well. The hood "ring" can indeed be sticky. You've got to carefully remove it then you can put a 39mm filter on. Afterwhich , you can either replace the ring or not. As to the person who is so upset about the spelling of lens or lense, did he remember to wipe this morning?

FWIW, as an alternative to the tiny shade that comes w/the lens & the official Rollei clip-on accessory shade (which is nice but hard to find), you can use any generic 39mm threaded vented shade (no vignetting).

That dedicated Rollei clip on shade is a real gem isn't it? I use it on my 40 Summicron.
