That would be old Leica lenses for the old Leica M body, all new to me.

You might recall might current inventory of rangefinder lenses consists of 35-50-75-??-135. All in LTM to match my Canon VI-T's.

After pouring over what has been said here, I am leaning toward locating a 90mm/2.8 Elmarit (first version) with pristine glass and user cosmetics. The other lens on my wish list is a 50mm Dual Range Summicron. After stumbling, fumbling and futzing around one day too long :bang: , I missed the pristine 35mm 'cron ASPH listed in the classifieds, I could be tempted by another equally pristine and priced 35mm 'cron ASPH.

Then there is this little cutie:

LTM 50mm Summicron

Feel free to convince me otherwise.

I'm really tired of trying to buy on eBay. I either get into a battle and pay too much, sniped at the last instant or worse: Turning my back at the end and loosing a really nice lens for peanuts. Y'all know the whole sordid mess I'm sure.

I have spent way too many hours recently GOOGLING and visiting the Forum sponsors web pages searching for lenses. There are a few of each out there. A few on ebay with B-I-N prices, etc. Offerings seem to range from paperwight quality for too much money to NIB for WAY! too much money.

What to do, what to do, what to do? Where does a fellow go to get a fair shake on a used Leica lens? EH? (For our cousins to the north 😀 ).

The good news is that nobody else wanted the 50mm LTM-M adapter in Austin, Texas and I got it while I wasn't even looking! At least my Nikkor-S.C 50mm/1.4 will have a home on the new body. I'm still in search of a 35-135 adapter.

Your thoughts are greatly apprciated.

Hi, if you've already got a Nikkor-S.C 50mm/1.4, then you're all set! It's sharp and fast. Pick up a Jupiter 12 35mm f2.8, and a 90mm f4 Elmar and you're completely outfitted for peanuts, with lots of casholla left for film. (offering alternative viewpoint)

Hi Wayne,
My only thought is why pay a premium price for a collectable LTM lens and M adapter when you have an M body? You could probably buy a new M one for less.

Cuz it would fit on my Canon bodies! 😀

I never ever claim to know what I'm doing!

OK, so I need sobering advice. Yes, the new LTM Summicron is an affectation.

However, I do draw the line at C-L-N optics. OK, in a weak moment, I bought a CV 75mm recently. I was pleasantly surprised by the first roll of color film. I reckon a Leica body deserves at least one Leica lens. Hence the 90mm Elmarit or??????????

Why don't you buy from reputable camera shops on the 'net instead of evilbay? I've never been clipped yet w/ the former.

My point exactly. Give me some names, please! Folks who treat you right.

THANKS! I spoke to Dan Black last week and he is on the trail of a lens or two for me. I'll get in touch with the others.

A 90mm Elmarit is headed my way. Thanks, Paul! 😉

To elaborate: I PM'd a member early this morning about a 90mm Elmarit. Next I heard from someone I emailed yesterday about another 90mm Elmarit. That lens was a near mint, late SN black beauty for a bunch of money. Not quite what I wanted, but ever so tempting. The seller finally explained everything, stated a last and best price to which I replied most seriously and he went silent. Then Paul replies about his user 90mm Elmarite fresh from a Sandy Krauter CLA with a very user friendly price and Bob's your uncle, the deal was done.

Had the other seller answered sooner I would have bought his lens. This way I have a very useable lens AND saved some money toward a 35mm 'cron ASPH. 😀 😀

Thanks everyone! Today was a good day.

WANT TO BUY: Hood for 90/2.8 Elmarit lens. 😉
