I*ve never heard of it before but if its good (which it seems), I don't mind the price. My subscription for B&W Photography from England is £50GBP/year so $60 is quite acceptable to me.
Those of you who have paged through previous issues, what do you think?

It is a quality magazine and I will subscibe.
It is a great magazine, the best photography available in a mag in my opinion.
Only for new subscriptions though, too bad. I wonder when I need to renew?

It's very good...the one I look forward to. I've had a subscription for several years now because I was buying every issue at bookstore prices anyway.
They have a digital edition on CD with extended interviews and more pictures, but I could never get used to it.
I see so many pictures on line that it's nice to still see something in print.

Great, I just placed my order for a subscription and a few back issues. To bad the next issue is not due until January...

its more like a small book, than a magazine. the pages and printing are very good quality, and the photos are always fantastic. not cluttered with ads either.EmilGil said:I*ve never heard of it before but if its good (which it seems), I don't mind the price. Thanks for posting this. I enjoy looking at LensWork and occasionally pick up an issue. This will go on my Christmas list! Great price for a quality magazine.

I only recently looked at this for the first time at the local Barnes and Noble due to talk about it on RFF. Really beautiful and inspirational. Can't pass it up at this price and just subscribed. Thank you once for the heads up.

Yeah, that's a nice gesture. I took a one year subscription and ordered the three last issues (#65-67) too, all for $100 shipped to Norway. Last week I renewed my subscription for a Swedish magazine but the last few years they've turned more and more into testing digital equipment and giving Photoshop advice which is not really why I read these magazines... If LW is as good as it seems, I'll drop the Swedish one.tomtodeath said:sorry to non-usa folks!

I'm really looking forward to it, especially the interviews with Norwegian Eirik Holmøyvik (we both live in Bergen) and John Sexton.

My wife renews my subscription to Lenswork and Lenswork extended each Christmas. If you haven't got the extended version you should check it out, it's on CD and goes alittle more in depth than the magazine does (more articles, more pictures and portfolios as well as audio interviews), it's outstanding.

Damn, and I just ordered it a month ago! Still waiting for the first issue.
It cost me 75 bucks with shipping.
I also bought the back issues CD< alot of good text and even better portfolios to look at! Pity it's not at a very good resolution...some of the images are pixelated even in sub-fullscreen-size.
Oh and there is once in a while a litte bit too much life-philosophy in the articles of Brooks Jensen. A bit like a war veteran talking to grandchildren style. But it's bearable.

I had a subscription and stopped it. The quality of pictures was always excellent but I didn't particularly care for most of the subject matter. I subscribed to the English mag Black & White Photography instead and it is very different from LensWork, but at least I enjoy it.

Pretentious?
I currently subscribe to both, if anything I find Aperture the more pretentious [maginally!], and am not renewing [some great stuff by Alex Webb a few issues back, and Neil Selkirk portrits in current issue are the only things I have really enjoyed], Jury still out on Lenswork. I have bought UK B&W photography over the counter when in Uk and Ireland, and that's where the Aperture cash is going , IMHO an excelllent well balanced magazine.patashnik said:I have a dozen or so issues somewhere. Not my cup of tea, I must say I find it a bit *boring*, and too often prentious (OK, someone had to say it...). The photos are "OK", but I like Aperture magazine more.

Well, I guess it's time for me to stop monitoring this thread before I regret my subscription! =)
Naw, I'll give it the shot I've already given. So far I liked the preview pdf's...
Edit: I could just tell from the previews of Aperture magazine that it's not my cup of tea...

Well I was going to say I thought it was a bit pretentious too but I had already criticized the image content so I thought maybe that was enough for one post...patashnik said:I have a dozen or so issues somewhere.
