Let's be honest - one camera & one lens...?

I've already achieved one body so for me it's M6TTL and 50mm. It's very hard to choose between the Elmar and the 'Cron, I might have to trade both for an older 'cron for the "look". As for film, I'd love to say FP4 but the world would have to magically become two stops brighter, so HP5 it is.

My M2 and my Summitar; it's become obvious to me lately.
But if you extended the question to all cameras and lenses no matter if we owned them ... hum I would say the Leica MP and ... well, you can't choose only one lens ... ok let's say the Noctilux 50/1.

That´s a tricky one, must be the M6 and a 50mm Elmar (2 gen) with lots of Kodak BW400CN, hat said the F3 w/50mm 1,2 is just nice, but it´s not a rangefinder.
Does it count that it has some brassing ? 😉

really hard call for me to make, and my roots clearly being SLR's.... it'd be a canon. Mostl likely EOS as well.

Either 1VHS + 24-70/2.8L
or maybe a 1DmkII + 24-70/2.8L

depending on how the new EF 50/1.2L turns out, that could replace the 2470...

if i haaaaaaaaad to pick a RF-based system, i'd go with a Black Ikon and the CV 35/1.2...

for either film-based system, i'd shoot the new Provia 400X till i die.

gosh

gosh

That old question.

Can I have two bodies please? My EOS5D and EOS30. And why do the more expensive EOS bodies not have that lovely DOF programme that the cheaper bodies do.

One lens? Either my EF24L, or perhaps if forced to use only one lens I might replace it with the 16-35L.

Film, that's easy, tri-x developed in rodinal, and if I need more speed I can dev it in DD-X or something.

Push came to shove, I'd probably sell the 5D.

Rangefinder. Currently thinking of buying one.

If I were just a hobbyist it would be easy: pretty much any camera with a fast 35mm lens. (if we ought to choose a combo we already have it would be my bessa + 35mm skopar, if not, an MP and 35 lux).

But... doing documentary and portrait photography one lens is just not enough. I can shoot any assignment with just one lens, in fact I rarely take more even on long trips, but I cannot use just one lens for everything. So... Nikon F90x, 24mm/2.8 for documentary and 50/1.2 for portrait.

Film's easy... Tri-X - superb between 200 and 1600, and still more than good enough between 50 and 6400!

Hmm. I'd probably go with my Canaon A-1 SLR with 35 to 105 3.5 zoom. Film would be Ilford XP2.

The CL and 40 would win if it were specified that the lens had to be prime rather than zoom.

That's a really tough one, but as much as I like my rangefinder gear I am still pretty new to it. So I think I'd probably go for my OM2n with my single coated Zuiko 50/1.4 "silvernose" (and if I was allowed one more lens, it would be my Zuiko 24/2.8).

And just one film? Velvia 100 (if I was allowed two, I'd also have Delta 400)

Honestly?
In the weekend i went to a short rtip with two friends. I wanted to carry not too many camera stuff, lightweight, and possibly on my shoulder, since I had other things to carry too. Also, i wanted to have a way to measure light counting on not-only-outdoors-shots. I wanted a reasonable quality lens and, fast too.

SO i picked up my yashica GSN and four rolls of film.
That's it.

Similar to Gene, I'd have a tough time choosing between my Rolleiflex 3.5E and my Leica M3 with 50mm collapsible cron.

It's funny, I use the M6 most (black with builtin meter) but if I could only have one camera/lens it would be the M3/cron.
