Some shots with the M240! Only thing that i dont like of the lens is the close up distance, only a 1 meter, rest is great. Sharp and with a lot of character.

Great composition in all the shots Erik (as usual).

Giulio

Thank you, Giulio.
Actually I am experimenting with the Summilux 50mm v1 (1959-1961). I stopped using the v2 because of its barrel distortion. I thought that the Nokton-M 50mm f/1.5 was free from it, but unfortunately it has some. The Summilux v1 is totally free from it, so the lens is really fine for shooting architecture. Also: stopped down a bit it rivals any Summicron.

Erik.

Hi Erik,
would you mind sharing your thoughts about the lux V1 vs the nikkor sc 5cm 1.4?
I am thinking to add a nikkor + amedeo adapter OR a lux V1 to my kit.

Thanks
Giulio

Giulio, the rangefinder Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 Sonnar type is acceptable at full aperture but only extremely good from f/2. However, the corners stay always behind. See the Nikon RF thread.

I will post all my results with the Summilux 50mm v1 in the film-M (this) thread.

Erik.

Thanks for the info Erik.

The Nikkor 5 cm 1.4 thread was one of my favourite when I first join RFF and I was considering this lens as it seems to renders a bit like my lux 35 infinity lock.
The nikkor in S mount is also way cheaper than the lux 50 V1.

Thanks again.

Giulio

Thank you, Erik. Masterful composition in your latest shot. Beautiful as always.

Also just realized that I haven't thanked both Erik and Dirk for your nice comments on my earlier photos. Thank you. :)

E46 Pre-ASPH has been my main 50mm (and my main lens in general) ever since I got it. Went through my fair share of 50s of both Leica and 3rd parties, but this lens just clicked with me. Not too heavy, not too large, classic rendering but benefits from better coating and 0.7m focus distance compared to older ones. Only thing I don't like the lack of focusing tab but TAAB is doing its job for now. I might one day ask Don to add the tab for me...

I love my beater Summilux v2. Somehow it makes me want to go out and shoot - more than any other lens I have owned. My only M lenses are the Lux and a Jupiter 3 that I will probably sell soon.
