Yeah I like them a lot. Got both of mine on ebay cheap. $30 for one, $25 for the other! I can't see paying the $120 or so that Leica's crappy plastic M-Grip costs when you can get a metal grip so cheap.

Sensible, Chris, to have one chrome body and one black. I like your bag: it shows that at least some photographers chase utility, not brand names.

The two colors help me remember what film is in what body, lol.

The bag is actually a Domke F803, which I bought years ago when I was living in Santa Fe and making good money. I don't think the Saffrotto bags (Chinese knockoffs of Domke bags sold on ebay) were around then, but I'd have spent the extra for the American made Domke anyway. I grew up in an industrial city whose middle class has simply been exterminated by jobs being shipped overseas, a lot of good people I knew lost everything.

I like the Domke because it is simple and utilitarian though, but its a little too big. I can't seem to find a bag I really like. The Artisan and Artist bags are nice, a couple of them are closer to what I really want but the prices are simply outrageous, and there are some things I don't like about them too aside from cost.

I'm thinking of making my own bag that is PERFECT for me without compromise. I've found a place that sells the ballistic nylon and canvas and cordura and such that camera bags are typically made of, and the materials they sell are American made but VERY inexpensive compared to what finished camera bags cost! I have a friend who has a heavy-duty sewing machine she uses for leather, and she's a photographer too. Says she'll sew it for me if I design it and buy enough material to make her one too.
 
Excellent scheme. I have for some years been planning to have a bag made by a chap who repairs them. However, the materials are too difficult to find. My part of town is good only for about a million brands of cosmetics.

Here's two places I've found. I have not bought anything yet, but the prices seem very reasonable. Don't know if they'd ship to India or how much that would cost though. Looks like for $30 or $40 in materials my friend and I can make a couple of bags. Now I need to actually draw out my design!

I have the Domke as well. I really like that bag. Mine is tan though. I agree with your sentiments on things made overseas. It seems like quality also goes down as well.
