i cannot compare to the #4034, but so far, i find it very pleasant. looks and feels a lot like the old vulcanite (like M4, M4-P).
as for the ZM: i use it already for quite a while & i was extremely pleased with it - until the old summilux showed me a handful of "mandler magic". now i am on the search for a similarly gifted 28. but since the ZM is such a nice imager, that's a relaxed and laid-back quest.
You mentioned the Mandler 28 Elmarit already, didn't you 😀😀😀
There's nothing like a Mandler! 🙂
You prefer the skateboard griptape covering?
ASPH lenses are overrated, I much prefer the Mandler designs that came before them. I still have single 24, 35, 50 and 75 in ASPH versions but I've sold off all my others.Strange, eh ?
Everybody seems preaching ASPH lenses, while some seem to have reached zen with the odd ones. 😀
I see your point but have not experienced this on my MP. Maybe the base is a bit tighter on the newer cameras? My MP with the Griptac is 10 years old now though.Good (better) choice. The GripTac is nice but I found out the hard way that it is not very suitable for a Leica M. It is less thick than vulcanite, which is part of the light baffling of the bottom plate with an M camera (or a Barnack).
I had a GripTac covered M3 and it regularly had light leaks along the bottom plate since the GripTac wasn't thick enough to seal the light out.
Now add a BP hot shoe, BP shutter release collar, a black frame counter (this particularly makes me twirly :bang:, especially, as I can't have it on my film Ms) and vulcanite covering as a final touch, making it one of my dream cameras (don't forget the Leicavit though).
Now add a black paint rigid Summicron …
Anybody has a photo of this very camera?
