Let's see your Leica M

Interesting, this fake Leica II, the frame around the viewfinder illumination window looks like a Leica frame, the release button looks like a FED type, your camera definitely was repainted but it might also be built from two cameras. The screw on the front is at roughly the same spot a self timer lever would be on a real Leica. FEDs and Zorkis did not have this feature.
Any more info on the camera?

here is mine.

I totally agree, there´s something weird with that "fake". :)

The shell has the black rims (up and below) from a Zorki 1C. Zorki 2 had a selftimer like the Leica IIID and IIIf, but a Zorki 2 would have had a different shell (with rims around the lensmount).

No, it is a black leather bag from Espirit. I put a foam insert into it which best fit a M body plus 2 lenses.

The text is engraved.

Not so many of those true engraved M7 top covers around. I understand they were a special order item by the shop. I've seen a few on display with a premium price on them. The 'Japan' M6/M7 with the silk screened 'engravings' looks nice, but of course it starts to get a used paint gone look after time, real engravings is the way to go, and the way it should have been done from the start.

I double examined the text on the top plate but it looks to be engraved to me. If for silk screen the text should be flush with the metal, but the text appears to be engraved on my M7.

If it is engraved you should be able to see it with an edge to the lettering into the top plate. The silk screening is done well and almost looks engraved, but with a magnifier you can see the difference. Of course the silk screening lettering will start to wear in time and then you will see the difference for sure
