If this was a real one, the price would have been substantially higher. It is as if the seller knows it is a fake, but tries to sell it as a real one.

If it was a real one, it would have been one of the earliest black paint M3's with a price to match, much higher than an original black MP.

Funny how all these old black paint Ms seem to have been by the looks of them owned by a photographer that has shot it for years with thousands of rolls but yet never scratched them or bumped or dropped just worn where they have been held, if you know what i mean.

I know exactly what you mean. The thing is that the real black cameras were not worth a lot of money in the years that they were used. They were worth far less than the beautiful chrome shelf-queens. They were not pampered.

Real or fake?

This one is now on eBay. It is not on the official list of black M3's.

Looks quite beutiful but find the wear kinda artificial, not sure why. Probably excesive wear on self timer and speed dial? One usually moves the speed dial by the edge not from the top. Perhaps the owner had different habits like me?

Anyway, this is what is on my desktop right now, waiting for my lunch time walk.

M4-P, Summaron 35 f/2.8 and Leica meter MR-4.

Notice the boxed Ferrari to the rear. Did the dead man get one while he lived? Do you have the camera you want, or the dream car or dream home, while you live?

Photographed with M-D 262 / ZM 21/2.8.

M4 with 21/2.8. This was my first M, bought soon after joining RFF. I sold it to a colleague in 2013 after acquiring an M5. He made admirable street portraits with it and posted them on RFF. His bone cancer returned in 2014. I bought the camera and his favorite CV 35/1.4 street lens from his widow not long after my first wife died, and used it in regular rotation until last fall, when I passed it along to another RFF friend in Oregon. Our Ms are servants who will outlast us. Let us give them our best while they still await our pleasure.

Always working towards that goal Robert!

You only live once, better enjoy it while you can.

For us, a Little Leica sprinkled on top makes it all the much better.

Nice kits you’ve shared!

My Chrome M2's Vulcanite is peeling, so taking inspiration from your M4, I have just ordered Grey Griptac from Cameraleather. I have black Griptac on a IIIC and like it a lot. Thanks for the idea! Steve in New Mexico
