Martin,

That Luigi case; is that the military green finish (which always seemed a strange name to me for a shade of brown!). If so it looks just like what I am after for my second body.

no, it's cognac brown.
Does it look green on your monitor?
The only green part is inside the shoulderpart.

No looks brown, but the 'miltary green' as shown on the Luigi website is certainly not green but a shade of brown as far as I can see. The green luigi finish is a regular british racing green and quite different. Have a look on Luigis site and you will see what I mean! The 'military green' looks to me to be an earthier brown than the cognac (which can look quite bright in some shots) and very different to the slightly redish 'Rally' brown. Yours looked quite a different shade to the cognacs on the luigi site so I guess variability in leather colour as well as digital photos/websites is making it harrd to see what is what....🙁 I have black already and want a different colour fofr the second black body on the way.

I think the reason is I had reduced saturation,
so the colors are not realy naturel.

My M4

Crappy shot from my phone - but you get the picture... Brassed through the chrome on the shutter, permanant film sprocket hole marks on the pressure plate from having thousands of rolls through it. I've worn through the matte silver finish (matte chrome?) on the front lower left and the right hand strap lug - just from being held so much.

My original 35 'chron (silver) was killed by what is called 'Bulldust' in the Australian outback - just really fine red desert sand, which gets into everything - about 2 years worth - (I was photographing Aboriginal peoples; Pitantjatjara, Walpiri, Pintubi, Arrente, Yalu, Gagadju...), and the CLA guy told me he couldn't do anything for it... So I got this black one off 'the auction site' from a nice pro photographer in Canada who was retiring. I haven't shot anyone in the desert with this one, just a lot of city streets, so it should last...

Someone told me that this camera serial is about 21 after Winogrand's famous M4, and is in about the same condition - except my vulcanite or whatever is in better condition!

Oh yeah, the red Leica logo is not original, I was shooting some Aboriginal artists, and some red paint found its way onto my fingers - I rubbed the paint into the logo as a reminder - so there's nothing rare about this camera.

My new year's resolution is to stop lurking and to start contributing... I've been on here for about 2 years, and in that time I've posted bugger all (well, 3).

The 3opkuu is my attempt at writing Zorkii in ******* roman/cyrillic, as I was so in love with the Zorkii 6 when I started out (it's what got me onto rangefinders). Then came a brief fling with Yasica electros, mainly the GX - great glass, no, SUPERB GLASS, but hard to control - they only let you set the aperture. I now shoot almost exclusively with the M4, and occasionally a Fed2 with Jupiter 12 (sometimes a Canon QL 17 III). I also shoot MF - a Lubitel 166 U, a Seagull that I picked up in a market in China, and the bombproof Hasselblad - which has put me in the chiropractors a number of times. I recommend a backpack if you've more than one lens!
So there - I've posted 4 times now (for what it's worth). I'll try to make them count - not just lots of one liners to get my numbers up...

I just went through all 66 pages, so now I'm not feeling well.

Has anyone noticed there's a distinct spread in the quality of pictures on this thread? Some of them are really good, but some of the others ... 😱

Come on guys (and girl)! Narrow depth of field is great for concentrating the attention on one part of the subject, but shouldn't at least some part of the camera be in focus?

BTW, My M7 is black and looks like an M7.

I think the red dot looks not so bad on chrome bodies, but I don't like it on black camera. So I replaced it as soon as I owned mine.

Yes! Thank you colin for spearheading the notion. I was observing the exact point but I'm too chicken to stick my neck out and risk being misunderstood as a put-downer 😀

If you have a Porsche or a Ferrari or a Lotus Exige or a Bugatti Veyron or even if you have something akin to my dinky but very much-loved 4Runner, you or I would make sure that there's no dumpster nearby when shooting a picture for show, we also won't take it to a Wally World parking lot, will we?

I would probably take it in front of a mansion, or a museum, or a beautiful overlook to the rockies, or a quaint corner of a little old-downtown... which usually takes a lot of effort. And then, I'd spend 2 hrs trying to get the lighting, dof, focus, composition, and detail ... just right.

So, let's keep posting pictures with some visible effort behind it... Remember I said *effort* not *beauty* because beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

I haven't got an M-system ... yet, but when I do, I'll post the best fashion shot of it... it may look like crap compare to some of yours, but... I'd put a lot of effort in it...
