I’ve contemplated that for hiking (not that I go anywhere like you do). A GR is lighter than a Leica lens. It’s quite a feat.

Why not? The GRs are very capable and the only camera I miss is the M Monochrome (and my lost Contax T3) and a 35mm focal-length GR.
I have currently only the GR3x and feel it does 90% of what I need. Been thinking to get a mono-converted version though.

Try developing the raw files in Iridient, RawTherapee or one of the other raw developers that can convert raw files directly to monochrome without demosaicing. I am not very good at it, but I got results as nice as from converted cameras with this approach. Monochrome conversion removes the microlenses from the sensor cover and there is a loss of light capture efficiency and some weird edge effects sometimes associated with it. And a new raw developer is such cheaper than a conversion! On the downside testing and learning new software is one of the least interesting tasks in photography.

I like night shots when I get the chance, but this one was months ago. As we get into fall I will do more. Here is a street at night from my Ricoh GRIIIX, with a black mist diffusion filter. Also run through DxO PureRAW.
