let's see your yashica rf

Greetings all!

Looking through this thread sure brings back memories! I used to have a pretty good collection of Yashicas but, time and interests change and I sold them off. :bang: I still have film cameras, mainly Canon SLR's and have gotten into doing my own B&W developing. I used to hang around here but, I haven't posted OR lurked here in ages!

Okay, my reason for being here - I just found a Yashica Minister III at the thrift. Kinda dirty and the inside of the RF was FILTHY, made it hard to focus. I got the top off and cleaned the mirrors and view glass. I cleaned up the out side and made her shine.

I had forgotten how great these Yashica RFs feel! It was like greeting an old friend.

Even the light meter works....well kind of! Some parts of the metering ring do not elicit a response from the needle, like the cells are dead.

I still have to replace the light seals and then I will take the old gal out for a test drive!

Thanks for letting me ramble

Picked this up on a "popular auction site" I've wanted a Electro 35 Professional ever since I started collecting Yashica RFs (which was quite awhile back). I've since sold off my RF collection but, here I am with my Professional!

It's not perfect but, it has been taken care of. I have replaced the POD, adjusted the release switch rod and latch and cleaned the RF windows/glass.

Here's my 35 GT which just died on me ... electronics failure as it seems.

Hope to get an N model with the gold platings soon, hoping these are not as prone to sudden death as the GS/GT models ...

Oh, and does this one count? It was made by Yashica, at least ... ;)

Efix, all the G series Electro's have the gold plated contacts. And they all hava a P.O.D.

Really? -- okay, I just checked on yashicaguy's website, looks I was mistaken.
Anyhow, it miraculously came back to life when I took it apart recently. We'll se how long it's going to work :)

Someone using a GL?

Do they have more reliability problems than other Yashicas?
Is its lens worse than those on other Yashica bodies?
If it's the only one going to 1600, and has a meter that compensates for filters, why isn't it as usual as other models?
Any other comments?

Thanks!

Cheers,

Juan
