I just got a roll of film back from the local one-hour place, and was disappointed to see an apparent light leak on some of the prints and negatives (400 speed C-41 B & W). Doubly disappointing because I just got the camera, a Canon 7s, back from a CLA with a well-known repair shop. What puzzles me is that the leak affected only about half the negatives, although all were shot under similar light conditions. I would get 2 or 3 without leaks, and then one or two with the problem. I was not standing in direct sunlight when shooting these photos. Also, several of the photos were printed with overlapping frames, although the framing on the negatives themselves is OK. About 2/3 of the leaks appear on the bottom of the frame, with the remainder on the top of the frame. Also, several of the negs have small scratches, or nicks taken out of the emulsion. Was I the unfortunate victim of a lousy day at the lab?

Any ideas? Help would be appreciated- this is my first instance of a potential light leak, covering a span of 30 years and a lot of cameras. Does anyone know if the 7s is supposed to have some foam or black yarn in the channels around the door? My example doesn't have any. Thanks!

sure. These two consecutive frames exhibit the light leak on opposite sides of the frame. The landscape one has a chip in the emulsion, clearly visible with a 10X lens on the negative.
