Cincinnati Ohio used to have a lot (hundreds?) of these quaint little streetlights. They're used to illuminate places in the street where there are interruptions such as curbs, center islands or medians. They originated back in the 1920s but their number has dwindled in recent decades and replacement parts are unavailable and they are no longer fixed or replaced when they are broken or knocked down in car crashes. There are only a couple dozen remaining. Since nothing tickles my autism like an arcane piece of city infrastructure, I had great fun driving all over town shooting these things.
