Like a sprintscan

I have, and use, a Nikon Coolscan 5000 - good detail, but for newspaper reproduction, the results don't equal what we used to get from a SCSI Polariod Sprintscan. Is there:
A - a way to connect an SCSI Sprintscan to a USB Mac?
B - if not, is there a new scanner that will give results similar to the Sprintscan?

There was a SCSI to USB adapter at one point in time. It wasn't specifically for a scanner, but I heard it worked well. Not sure about on a MAC, but it did work on a PC.
I also had the Sprintscan 4000 and looking at some older scans from it, they were outstanding, especially for the time.
I switched because of ICE. You may want to scan with the Nikon 5000 with ICE off and at a lower DPI and scans should improve.
Also Microtek Artixscan 4000tf has firewire and also USB, I believe. Same scanner as the Polaroid .. Check Silverfast for the software as I'm sure they make it for the Mac.

try vuescan with the nikon. It did wonders for my epson.

Greatly interested in the SCSI to USB connector on a Mac.

I have an Epson GT9600, 1995 flatbed scanner for documents and negatives. Want to use it to scan LF negatives, 9x12 cms and half plate. Until recently had an XP machine dedicated for it, but it crashed. I'd like to replace with a Mac Mini and that only provides USB link-up.

Anybody that can confirm that this SCSI to USB connector works well with a Mac?

I run windows 7 and have a Nikon LS-2000 so this may make it easy to work with.

I keep an older PC around just to run my Sprintscan 4000 and Minolta Dual. Old PC's are dirt cheap, old Mac are also.
