Limited edition Ricoh GR.

I just wonder if the GR has sort of gotten lost in the tide of other new cameras that seem to be announced/leaked every few weeks.

Also, seems like an interesting way to try to get more mileage out this camera.

This approach has worked for other camera makers, but will it work for a digital camera, where an older digital P&S often loses relevance -- even if it's an advanced one? Does it deserve to have a limited edition model? Ricoh believes that it does.

That grip sounds just about the worst material one could use. Then again, perhaps this will eventually grow an Hasselblad badge?

They've done limited versions of the GR series before, there was a GRD III with streetwear brand Stussy, and given Pentax's penchant for multicoloured versions, I suppose it's not surprising.

It's not for me though, I have a GRDII, and I have to admit that I've been casting covetous eyes at the GR, for me one of it's most endearing qualities is that it's such an unassuming little black box.

Hahaha I'd love one too, it's just a normal GRDIII with some blue trim (which goes against my "unassuming black box" comments from earlier). But I used to buy a lot of stussy stuff (until they shifted manufacturing) and always had a soft spot for the brand.

The OP link looks a lot like the old green R1 35mm. Not an unattractive camera!

Dark Green seems to be the trendy color for limited editions - Bang & Olufsen recently announced a special edition of their H6 headphones in the same color.

The GR Digital looks like a great camera, but 28mm-e is just too wide for me, I'd prefer 50mm, 35mm in a pinch.

You can make it into a 35mm or 47mm in a pinch, albeit with smaller file sizes.

Well, the green is better than the white models they had for the GRD 4, or at least it hides dirt better. But I'm very happy with my black one.
